Katherine Wong

Katherine Wong is a volunteer at Hong Fook for more than 35 years and continues to contribute in various member and board governance positions. She shares her extensive experience in the health care system from her previous mental health clinical and education endeavours with various groups in the emergency, hospital and community sectors. Katherine persists as in all the years at Hong Fook with activities to advocate for equity in ‘mental health for all’ for diverse ethnic communities and population groups.

Jason Park

Jason Park is a partner with the law firm of Devine Park LLP. He previously was one of the Board of Directors for Hong Fook Mental Health Association.

Sum-Ming Yu

Sum-Ming Yu is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and holds a Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta. She currently works as a Finance Manger in a large telecommunications company, specializing in corporate policy development, audit quality and board composition, corporate social responsibility, and business conduct. Sum-Ming also has a technical background in financial reporting, internal controls, auditing of companies in financial services, real estate development, construction, and non-for-profit organizations.

Janet Law

Janet Law is a rehabilitation professional driven by results in process improvement.  Her vision is to inspire change in people and influence change at organizational and system level. A graduate of the Masters of Science (Rehabilitation Science) at McMaster University and physiotherapy program at Queen’s University, Janet has worked in acute care hospital, rehabilitation hospital, long-term care and home care.  Her current focus is on quality management and program administration. Furthermore, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University and a board member at the College of Physiotherapists since 2015. Outside of work, she enjoys public speaking, civic engagement and other cultural events.

Gem Lee-Herder

Gem Lee-Herder is a Registered Social Worker and community developer. She has over 12 years of experience working to improve access for marginalized populations in the education, settlement, faith, and health care sectors. Gem currently works as a Health Education Specialist at the University Health Network focusing on improving health equity and health literacy for its primary care and community medicine programs and services. Gem is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, and co-chairs the Mid-West Toronto Service Providers’ Network. Gem also serves as a member of the HF Connecting Health Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic’s Service Development and Quality Committee, Hong Fook Mental Health Association’s Korean Community Advisory Committee, and Hong Fook Mental Health Foundation’s Gala Committee.

Cindy Ma

Varada Saraf

Varada Saraf is a Chartered Accountant and works as an Advisory Manager where she specializes in finance transformation projects, including finance operating model reviews, finance visioning and strategy development support. Varada also has a background in financial reporting, budget analysis, planning and forecasting as well as internal controls and complex accounting issues. She has participated in and led cross-functional global client service teams in executing on large-scale engagements in regulated industries.

Volunteers are an integral part of HF Connecting Health Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic. We are accepting nominations for positions on the Board of Directors and on Board Standing Committees for the Clinic. Kindly refer to the package for the forms and further details.
