Abstract:

Inequities that were exposed and exacerbated by COVID-19 will continue to threaten health after the pandemic. We prioritized topics and systematically searched the literature for policy changes that could promote health equity. Specific interventions and changes that relate to income, housing, safety from intimate partner violence, childcare, access to health care and antiracism are known to be beneficial. Implementing proven interventions and changes can promote health equity and protect health generally during the pandemic recovery and before the next pandemic.

Leaning Objectives:

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the health inequities or avoidable differences in outcomes that were exposed and exacerbated during the pandemic
  2. Describe specific policy changes or interventions that can promote health equity during the pandemic recovery period
