Hong Fook Youth and Family Hub Opening
Thanks to the three-year funding from York Region, Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund and generous donation from Toronto District School Board, International Education Department, Hong Fook’s Youth and Family Hub is launched in both Toronto and York Region, including Hong Fook’s newly launched Markham site in Dorcas Centre – 2667 Bur Oak Ave., Markham.
The Hub is a resilience-focused, structured service model, developed based on Hong Fook’s existing in-demand youth programs, with new components and expansions to better meet the community needs and align to Hong Fook’s youth strategy. To improve the resiliency of East Asian in-risk youth and their family members and caregivers, the Youth and Family Hub develops and delivers programs under the four strategic themes, which are (1) enhancing youth emotional and social competency, (2) strengthening families, (3) cultivating leadership, social connectedness and mutual aids, and (4) raising mental health awareness and facilitating service navigation.
Starting from March, a monthly Youth Drop In will be kicked off on the 2nd Friday of every month, 7-9pm. On the 3rd Friday of every month starting from May, there will be a parent education session in the evening, 7-9pm. The team are also planning two one-week summer camps for youth aged 11 and above. Please check our program calendar for upcoming programs in this new Hub. Feel free to contact Youth Program Workers at 416-493-4242 for more information or registration.
